Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo” initially created a substantial buzz, garnering attention in Tamil and Telugu. Despite the association of big names like Lokesh Kanagaraj, Anirudh Ravichander, Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, and Vijay himself, negative vibes surround the film, and there are multiple reasons for the same.
Since the release of the film’s trailer, the expectations surrounding “Leo” have started to dwindle. The trailer completely failed to captivate moviegoers who had been eagerly anticipating the film. The disappointment wasn’t exclusive to the Telugu audience; even Tamil viewers found the promotional material underwhelming.
Given Lokesh Kanagaraj’s track record of delivering solid hits such as “Khaidi” and “Vikram,” many believed that “Leo” would follow suit. The film’s team insists that the actual movie will have numerous surprises, and they advise against forming judgments based solely on the trailer.
Nevertheless, viewers often form initial opinions based on promotional material, and “Leo” has faced some challenges. Moreover, canceling the premieres in the USA and denying permission to hold extra special shows in Tamilnadu created a negative vibe around the film. The fans were already disappointed with canceling a pre-release event in Tamilnadu. The latest developments only added fuel to their annoyance.
On the other hand, Sitara Entertainments, which holds the Telugu theatrical rights for “Leo,” has not put significant focus on the film’s promotion, even with its release just around the corner. Promotional materials, including dubbing quality, appear lacking in the marketing efforts. The recently released song “Ne Ready” from “Leo” also failed to impress the Telugu audience.
Moreover, the Telugu version will have to compete with Balakrishna’s “Bhagavanth Kesari” which is carrying a lot of positive buzz in the film circles.
Consequently, the initial enthusiasm for “Leo” among Telugu viewers has waned. Despite these challenges, there remains a sense of confidence in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s filmmaking abilities. The true outcome of “Leo” will be revealed once the film hits theaters.
