Rural dramas which have their heart in the right place have been impressing the Telugu audience of late. The likes of Balagam have shown the same. Now, veteran Telugu producer ‘Sravanthi’ Ravikishore is coming up with something on these lines.
The ace producer bankrolled a Tamil film titled ‘Kida’ and it is being dubbed and released in Telugu as ‘Deepavali’. The trailer for the film was unveiled by Ustaad Ram Pothineni a short while ago.
The trailer starts with the establishment of the rural premise where a grandfather, grandson and their goat play the central roles. Poo Ramu plays the elderly role and in his attempt to buy a new shirt for his grandson, he sets in motion a series of events involving his goat. Happening comedian Saptagiri’s voiceover for the goat character has a quirky vibe.
By the looks of it, ‘Deepavali’ is a proper rustic and raw rural drama that has a novel storyline and is regarded as a fresh attempt. The rural aesthetics are highlighted in the trailer and BGM suits the theme.
‘Deepavali’ was sent for international film screenings and it received standing ovation at the International Film Festival of India, Goa and the 20th Chennai International Film Festival where it won Best Film and Best Actor awards.
The film is directed by Ra Venkat and it has Poo Ramu and Kali Venkat in the lead roles. ‘Sravanthi’ Ravikishore is confident about the film and is releasing it in theaters this Deepavali season – 11 November which coincides with the title.
