‘Vyuham’ issues haunt ‘Yatra 2’

Ram Gopal Varma’s film “Vyuham” was scheduled for a release this Friday, but it faced delays in the censor process. Reportedly, objections were raised by officials with apparent political interests, leading to a review by the revising committee. While Varma has responded in a casual manner, the final decision on the movie’s release is still pending.

The trailer of the film already indicates a clear political agenda, with support for Jagan and subtle jabs at others like Chandra Babu and Pawan. Now, there are concerns if the upcoming Telugu movie “Yatra 2” will also fall in the similar situation.

While “Yatra” focused on the events before and after YSR’s Padayatra, the sequel starts with YSR’s death and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The approach and writing of director Mahi Raghav will certainly be different, compared to Ram Gopal Varma, but “Yatra 2” also seems to be an attempt to project Jagan as a powerful political figure, emphasizing his personality and public adoration.

The film also references leaders of opposition parties and their respective roles, including a character resembling Sonia Gandhi, which might lead to controversy. Mahi Raghav handles these aspects sensitively, but in the current political climate of Andhra Pradesh, any controversies related to the film could lead to issues with censorship or even legal challenges.

If someone decides to take the matter to court, it might delay the release of “Yatra 2.”

Only, the time will answer the speculations.
