Lady Superstar Nayanathara recently marked her 75th film with ‘Annapoorani – The Goddess of Food.’ Starring Jai, Sathyaraj, KS Ravikumar, and others in pivotal roles, the movie, directed by Nikilesh Krishna, was released on December 1, exclusively in Tamil. Now, the film has landed in a controversy.
Velu, the state president of Rashtriya Hindu Maha Sabha, criticized the plot, claiming it insulted the Brahmin community. He particularly objected to the portrayal of a Muslim boy falling in love with a Brahmin girl and called for a ban on the movie.
Velu threatened legal action and vowed to block theaters, asserting that films targeting Hindu religion should not be tolerated. Receiving mixed reviews, the movie gained attention for its unique plot.
Jointly produced by Zee Studios, Nat Studios, and Trident Arts, the film revolves around Nayanthara’s character, a woman from a Brahmin family aspiring to become the best Indian chef despite her father’s objections.
On the other hand, Nayanthara is actively participating in the film’s promotions, and no one from the movie unit has responded to the controversy yet.
