2023 provided mixed results for Tollywood. While some actors and filmmakers scored hits to blockbusters, some tasted debacles. However, Nani is the only hero in Tollywood with two blockbusters this year.
Interestingly, both the movies Dasara and Hi Nanna were helmed by debutants. Srikanth Odela made his debut with Dasara and with the confidence given by Nani, he made the movie as a first-of-its-kind period action drama. The movie ended up as a true blockbuster in rural and urban areas.
Hi Nanna marked the debut of director Shouryuv who was appreciated for dealing the emotions quite capably. The director stated that the movie was possible because of Nani. He further stated that no one would have accepted to play the role of a father.
The movie Hi Nanna is a commercial hit in Telugu states as well as overseas. While Dasara grossed $2.09 M, Hi Nanna collected over $1.8 M so far.
While Nani attempted two completely different subjects in 2023, the Telugu audience gave him enough love with 2 blockbusters.
