CBI wants a ban on upcoming Netflix docu-series!

Netflix is showing its aggression in producing Indian content on its platform in a big way. After launching multiple series, it is also now coming up with a docu-series titled, ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth.’ The trailer for the same is already out, and the streaming giant even confirmed the release date. However, the CBI raised an issue with the series.

On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation moved an application before a special court in Mumbai seeking a stay on a documentary series on Indrani Mukerjea. She was the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.

The CBI asked the court “to issue direction to accused and others concerned for staying/stopping the featuring of the accused persons and the persons connected with the case in the documentary by Netflix and its broadcasting on any platform till the conclusion of the ongoing trial.”

CBI Special Judge SP Naik-Nimbalkar issued notices to Netflix India and others for their response to the application.

The hearing has been fixed for February 20. On the other hand, the series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 23.
