The makers of Mega Prince Varun Tej previously revealed that his latest flick Matka is based on real incidents. Reports suggest that this movie directed by Karuna Kumar is the biopic of ‘Matka King’ Ratan Khetri, a prominent figure in the world of “Matka” gambling.
Ratan gained this title due to his significant influence and control over the Matka gambling industry in India during the 1960s and 1980s. Ratan Khatri, who earlier worked with Kalyanji Bhagat, parted ways to form his own ‘Ratan Matka’.
The matka which involved drawing lots from chits in a pot was a money-spinner with the daily turnover from gambling touching crores.
Ratan Khatri also had connections with the entertainment industry and co-produced the Bollywood film Rangeela Ratan.
Matka is not completely the biopic of Ratan Khetri, but some crucial incidents in his life are said to be taken as a reference to make this film based on gambling.
Varun Tej amazed in the teaser called Opening Bracket which received a superb response.
