Yesterday at the 20-years-of-Arya event in Hyderabad, creative director Sukumar shared some interesting stuff. But what caught the attention of many is the way he revealed the item song ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’ from the film. Here’s what he said.
“I’ve no interest in putting an item song inside my movie. But Dil Raju garu insisted that I should keep one. That’s how Aah Ante Amalapuram came up. Though I didn’t like some lyrics and also missed out on roping in a star heroine for that song as Dil Raju didn’t want to pay a business class flight ticket to her, actress Abhinayasri rocked it. But the twist is that Raju garu who insisted on item songs hasn’t put item songs in his next movies, but I’ve started putting item songs in all my films though I don’t like to. He started it, but I got addicted to them for commercial reasons” said Sukumar.
Well, Sukumar’s item numbers like Ringa Ringa (100% Love), London Babu (1-Nenokkadine) and Oo Antava (Pushpa) are just examples of how creatively he carves item songs and inserts them into his film. And it is tough to believe that he’s putting item songs to create commercial benefit for the movies, but not to his taste.
