Amitabh Bachchan may be one of the country’s most celebrated actors who has seen everything under the sun in decades-long career but that has not diminished his enthusiasm towards promoting his upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD.
The actor, who plays the role of Ashwatthama, in the film has been particularly influenced by the film’s themes. Amitabh Bachchan has shared that he has lately been reading Ramcharitmanas before Kalki’s release.
To the uninitiated, the Ramcharitmanas is a 16th century retelling of the Ramayana through poetic verses in the Awadhi dialect of Uttar Pradesh. The Ramcharitmanas, written by medieval Indian poet Tulsidas, is one of North India’s most influential tomes on religion and spirituality.
Amitabh Bachchan, who is the son of the late iconic Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan is no stranger to the worlds of poetry and literature himself. On Monday night, the actor shared a photo of Ramcharitmanas alongside his reflections of the same.
The actor writes, “We are in time after ages .. and the age of the ages is beginning to get a control .. which is recommended and practised all over .. so the effect of that early bird shall be exercised and the results reverted upon ..”
The actor’s reflections seem to be in sync with his immortal character Ashwatthama, who is tasked with the karmic duty of facilitating the birth of a new yuga. The actor also went on to translate a few verses in his post.
