The highly anticipated sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD” has left audiences eagerly awaiting its continuation, as the film’s ending teased a clear setup for a sequel.
However, if the director Nag Ashwin had simply put up a title of the ‘second part’ like how the makers of Baahubali 1, KGF Chapter 1 and Animal did it, the audience would have expected only one sequel coming. That’s not the case, however.
With Nag Ashwin putting up the end-card of “Kalki 2898 AD” as ‘Welcome to Kalki Cinematic Universe’, surely it looks like a confirmation that not just a second part, but a third instalment is also in the works, solidifying the “Kalki” franchise as a grand, multi-part saga. Recently, Prabhas himself confirmed that the director has Part 2 work to be started after 10 days of rest.
The first film blended futuristic science fiction with elements of Indian mythology showcasing the Mahabharata connection to Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan’s roles. The sequel will delve deeper into the character of Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan, and his dangerous mission, which was only briefly touched upon in the initial film.
We have to see if Nag Ashwin will expand the movie into a three-part trilogy like Lord Of The Rings and other epic sagas when he kickstarts the journey of Kalki 2.
As the first part of the “Kalki” is receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews for its grand scale and unique blend of science fiction and mythology, surely the sequels will hold massive interest.
