Heavy rainfall on Sunday night in Hyderabad led to water leaking inside a prominent multiplex theatre, PVR at Hyderabad Central, disrupting the screening of the latest film, Kalki 2898 AD.
Reports indicate that as the movie paused due to the incident, tensions escalated between the audience and PVR theatre staff. Moviegoers expressed safety concerns, questioning the management’s accountability in case of a potential short circuit or accident.
The heavy rainfall was sufficient to expose the vulnerabilities of this neglected and poorly maintained building and theatre, says the public, who are shocked that a theatre right opposite Panjagutta police station faced this situation. Alleging negligence, some patrons confronted the theatre management, demanding clarity on safety measures and responsibility.
The situation intensified with management reportedly urging dissatisfied viewers to leave, prompting some to contact police for intervention. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to the poor infrastructure.
Hyderabad witnessed sudden downpours accompanied by gusty winds on Sunday, severely affecting daily life across the city. We could see situations like stationary vehicles washed away in areas like Krishna Nagar.
