The recent decision to grant interim bail to choreographer Jani Master has sparked a lot of public anger and calls for the cancellation of his National Award.
Jani Master, whose real name is Shaik Jani Basha, was arrested after a 21-year-old woman accused him of sexually assaulting her over several years, starting when she was a minor. He faces serious charges under Indian laws designed to protect children from sexual offenses (POSCO).
As Jani Master prepares for the awards ceremony, news is coming out that the Awards Committee has cancelled the award announced for the choreographer. On October 4, a court allowed Jani Master to have bail from October 6 to October 10. This means he can attend the National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, where he is set to receive the Best Choreography award for his work in the Tamil film, Dhanush’s Thiru.
Now that the award is cancelled, we have to see if his bail will also gets cancelled.
