There is an unannounced rivalry between Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar in Tamil cinema. In terms of market and reach, Vijay is far ahead but in the domestic Tamil market, Ajith is just as strong as Vijay. These dynamics will now change quickly with Vijay entering politics.
Right in his very first speech a couple of days back, Vijay came down heavily on the equipment DMK government in Tamil Nadu and called them out for their family rule. This has quickly triggered an unexpected response from TN Deputy CM Udhay Stalin.
A day after Vijay’s speech against DMK, the deputy CM, Stalin backed Ajith Kumar in an indirect manner.
Out of the blue, Udhay Stalin took to social media to extent wishes to Ajith about a car race that has been happening in Dubai. “Best wishes to actor and friend #Ajithkumar Sir as he competes in the prestigious 24H Dubai 2025 and the European 24H Series Championship in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup class.
We’re happy that the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu’s logo will be proudly displayed on the car and equipment of the ‘#AjithKumarRacing,’ taking Tamil Nadu to the global stage. On behalf of the Tamil Nadu sports, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ajith Sir for encouraging us with this inspiring gesture.” he tweeted.
While there isn’t anything political about Udhay’s tweet about Ajith, the timing and the circumstantial build up such that he placed it just hours after Vijay called out the Stalin family. This has caught the attention now on social media.
