Jio Star: New Rival For Prime And Netflix!

It is already known that Disney Star India is merging with Reliance Viacom. The merging process started earlier this year and recently, it was reported that Disney+ Hotstar and Jio Cinema will merge into one OTT platform. It was stated that Jio Cinema will dissolve into Hotstar considering the latter’s better user interface and technical aspects.

According to the latest reports, the new merged platform will be called Jio Star. The merging process of Jio and Hotstar will be done by Wednesday (November 13) and the new platform is expected to go live on Thursday (November 14). Once the website goes live, the content of hotstar and jio cinema will be available on this platform.

Jio Star will also become the third big player in the OTT space after Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Until now, only Prime Video and Netflix have competed to buy the digital rights of big-budget films.

But with Reliance’s backing, we can expect Jio Star to also make big moves in the OTT rights business.
