The ongoing legal battle between Dhanush and Nayanthara took a new turn as Dhanush moved to the Madras High Court. He filed a civil suit alleging unauthorized use of visuals from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without permission.
Dhanush, representing his production house Wunderbar Films Private Limited, claims that the visuals were used in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, produced by Rowdy Pictures Private Limited.
The legal action also includes an application seeking the court’s approval to sue Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, a Mumbai-based entity managing Netflix’s content investments in India. Dhanush invoked Clause 12 of the Letters Patent, which permits suits to be filed in jurisdictions where a significant part of the cause of action arises.
Nayanthara has been served notice and is required to respond at the next hearing. This suit follows allegations by Nayanthara that Dhanush pressured her by withholding permission to use the footage in her documentary. She further alleged that Dhanush issued a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore for the use of “three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage” from the movie.
