Who paid the highest tax among the celebrities?

Celebrities are among the highest tax paying individuals in any country. The biggest tax-paying celebrity paid a whopping Rs 92 crore in last year alone, in the country.

Wondering who could that celebrity be. It was not Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli or Salman Khan.

In the list of highest tax-paying celebrities in India in September this year, superstar Shah Rukh Khan topped the list for paying a highest tax of Rs 92 crore in 2023-24 financial year.

With three blockbuster releases in 2023, Shah Rukh Khan was expected to be the highest tax payer. However, the distance with which he was ahead of the rest was startling. Next came Tamil star Thalapathy Vijay, who paid Rs 80 crore in 2023-24.

After Shah Rukh and Vijay, Salman Khan stood third paying Rs 75 crpre. Amitabh Bachchan with Rs ₹71 crore, and Virat Kohli with Rs 66 crore.

Coming to the female celebrity section, the top-ranked in the list was Kareena Kapoor, just outside the top 10, paying Rs 20 crore tax.

Shah Rukh Khan made his comeback with Pathaan in January 2023, which grossed over Rs 1000 crore, after which next release, Jawan, earned Rs 1150 crore.

Later, Dunki was not a big hit but managed to gross over Rs 400 crore.

It is significant to not that the profit share and earnings made Shah Rukh Khan the highest-paid actor in India after almost a decade.

Vijay also had a blockbuster release in 2023-24. The Greatest of All Time earned Rs 600 crore and reports said the actor was paid Rs 200 crore for the film.
