‘Pushpa: The Rise’ Hindi version was released in theatres in December 2021 along with Telugu, Tamil, Kannada & Malayalam versions and went on to become a huge blockbuster in Hindi. The film started its Hindi box office journey with around ₹3 Crores nett on day one in India and eventually ended up collecting around ₹110 Crores with a theatrical run of around twelve weeks. Pushpa Raj’s characterization and the way Allu Arjun portrayed the character were appreciated immensely by the Hindi audience and the songs in the film became a rage among the Hindi-speaking people in the country. The film’s Hindi version grabbed a huge viewership on digital platforms and it is still getting good TRPs whenever it is aired on satellite television channels.
The film’s sequel ‘Pushpa2: The Rule’ coming to theatres in five days. Considering the popularity of the first part in Hindi and looking at the way Allu Arjun and the team were received by the people in Patna, Bihar during the pre-release event, trade pundits expected a thunderous start for the film at the Hindi box office. Amidst huge expectations, the film’s Hindi advance bookings opened a few hours back today on various ticketing platforms.
Meeting all the expectations, the Hindi bookings for ‘Pushpa2: The Rule’ started on a very promising note both at Multiplexes and single screens. On the online ticketing portal, Book My Show, about eight thousand tickets were sold in the first hour after the bookings were opened and then in the next few hours around 15-20K tickets were sold each hour. As we speak, just from the Book My Show portal, about seventy-five thousand tickets were sold for the film in the last seven hours. At the time of writing this article, the Hindi version of the film is estimated to have grossed around ₹6.5 Crores for day one from advance ticket sales.
Jawan – ₹65.50 Crores, Stree 2 – ₹55.5 Crores, Pathaan – ₹55 Crores, Animal – ₹54.5 Crores and KGF: Chapter 2 – ₹54 Crores are the current top five opening day(nett) Hindi version films in India. Considering the anticipation among Hindi-speaking audiences for the film and the strong start to the advance bookings, the film is expected to find a spot in the top five opening-day(nett) films in Hindi in Hindi. We will have to wait and see if the film indeed has legs to cross the Jawan opening day number and become the ‘All Time Highest(Nett) Hindi Opener in India’.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government issued permission to screen a special premiere show after 09:30 PM across the state on 04th December and also allowed the team to screen 01:00 AM & 04:00 AM shows on 05th December. Bookings in Telangana for the film are expected to open shortly. Hike in the ticket price and special shows permission from the Andhra Pradesh government is awaited for now.
