No Option, Hero Must Take Care of It

It has been a long-standing tradition in Tollywood that films with good musical albums tend to have strong openings and better box office runs. This tried-and-tested formula is widely incorporated, as heroes strive to have winning albums for their films.

However, Allari Naresh made an interesting comment on this matter, stating that heroes don’t necessarily have much of a say in the musical side of things.

Speaking at the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Bachachala Malli, Naresh addressed the complaint about his films not having chartbuster albums.

“I have received this feedback in the past as well. My well-wishers say I must take better care of the albums in my films. But at the end of the day, it is the director’s choice to go with the kind of music that suits the film. They are the ones who have the right sense of the emotions, the placement of the songs, and the lyrics that gel with the film. We heroes have little say in this matter.”

Naresh implied that heroes are not necessarily fully involved with the musical side of things.

But on the contrary, we have seen many cases of star heroes sitting in on music sittings and working closely with music directors to extract the very best from the albums.

For instance, Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, and other stars are very particular about their audio albums. They take part in music sittings along with their directors and music directors to finalize the songs. They go the extra mile to ensure the best albums for their films.

Even Pawan Kalyan, back in the day, used to be very particular about his albums. That is why these stars have multiple musical blockbusters in their careers. Even the directors themselves are more cautious and contributory due to the special interest of these heroes.

That being said, Naresh’s point about music directors might apply more to mid-range and small-time heroes. They may have inhibitions when it comes to extracting the very best from the album. The music director might not be too particular about the album, there could be limited resources, and other factors might affect the musical work. But at the end of the day, it is the hero who is the face of the film, and it’s his duty to bring out the best in his principal technicians.

Luckily, the trend is slowly but surely changing these days, with mid-range and small films also having chartbuster songs. With the emergence of young, talented music composers, even small films are coming with great music.
