With the excitement of New Year celebrations starting to pick up pace, the Telangana government has announced good news for drinkers. In view of December 31, the government reportedly has granted permission for wine shops to remain open until midnight. Additionally, bars and restaurants will be allowed to operate until 1 am, as per orders from the Excise Department. Analysts believe these permissions will significantly boost the state’s revenue.
In Hyderabad, the government has also granted permission for pubs, parties, and other special events. However, organizers have been strictly instructed to ensure there is no consumption of illegal substances like drugs. Authorities will conduct continuous monitoring to prevent any untoward incidents.
The government has made it clear that, within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, several special events will be allowed with the green light, but organizers must follow certain conditions. They have also been advised to arrange effective security measures at pubs and party venues. Senior government officials have emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for excessive alcohol consumption or the use of banned substances like drugs.
The government’s intention is to ensure that people celebrate the New Year safely and joyfully. With this in mind, the Excise Department has made these decisions to promote drug-free and secure events. While the public enjoys their New Year celebrations, the government stands to benefit from a significant increase in revenue. It remains to be seen how much income will be generated from this one day alone.
