Social media has emerged as a strong medium of communication and is on par with the mainstream media these days. Social media platforms have brought celebrities of all walks of life closer to the common people and it has its disadvantages too. It remains a fact that updates lack authenticity many a time and a large number of users are often abusive towards other users and mainly towards celebrities.
Celebrities and prominent faces get into keyboard wars with faceless abusers only to lose their peace of mind and end up lodging a cyber crime complaint against them. In a move to bring awareness and build a positive social media environment, the AP government is taking the support of popular faces from Telugu cinema.
Actors Adivi Sesh, Sree Leela, and Nikhil voiced their support for the great initiative by the AP government and released video bytes urging the social media users to ‘pledge to post no evil’. In the campaign, the actors emphasize the need to ‘Say NO to fake news and abusive behavior’ on social media.
Well, the attempt to make social media a better place through celebrities is a good move by the AP government, and needless to say, the cyber crime department is always there to deal with social media abusers who don’t want to change their behavior.
