What seemed impossible has now become a reality. The notion that Rajamouli’s records could never be broken has been shattered. For years, the term “Non-Baahubali” had become synonymous with the trade, but Pushpa 2: The Rule has rewritten the rules, becoming the highest-grossing movie in Indian box office history in just 32 days. Officially announced by Mythri Movie Makers, Pushpa 2 has earned a staggering ₹1,831 crore worldwide.
This is a historic feat never seen before. It is truly remarkable that a commercial mass film, has achieved such massive success.
This feat, usually associated with Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, has now been accomplished by Allu Arjun.
This success is a testament to how far Telugu cinema has come. Recently, in a round-table interview, producer Naga Vamshi mentioned that northern stars, after witnessing the might of Tollywood, will have sleepless nights, and many more such milestones will be achieved in the future.
Even though Pushpa 2 completed a month in theatres, its final run is far from over. Just yesterday (Sunday), the film sold over 90,000 tickets on Book My Show.
While films like Marco garnered positive review, none of them were able to achieve even half of what Pushpa 2 managed in its second week. This is a clear indication of how deeply Pushparaj has penetrated the masses.
Although the film’s momentum has slowed in the south with the upcoming Sankranti rush starting from January 10, it continues to maintain a strong presence in the north. Due to the lack of major Bollywood releases, Pushpa 2 is expected to dominate theatres in the north for at least 50 more days, cementing Allu Arjun’s widespread popularity.
