Kangana Wants Priyanka Gandhi To Watch ‘Emergency’

Kangana Ranaut’s dream project, Emergency, is back in the news with the movie completing its censor formalities. The actress-turned-politician is busy promoting the film and is preparing the film for a massive release. In a recent interview, she opened up on the censor cuts being recommended to the film and also confessed to asking Priyanka Gandhi to watch Emergency

Kangana Ranaut says, “I met Priyanka Gandhi ji in Parliament, and the first thing I told her was, ‘Aapko Emergency dekhni chahiye.’ She was very gracious and responded, ‘Yeah, maybe.’ I said, ‘You will quite like it.’ Let’s see if they want to watch the film.”

“I believe it’s a sensitive and sensible portrayal of one episode and one personality. I’ve taken great care to portray Mrs. Gandhi with dignity. During my research, I noticed a lot of focus on her personal life—her relationship with her husband, friends, and controversial equations. I thought to myself, there is so much more to a person,” Kangana said about playing Indira Gandhi on the screen.

Reacting to the censor cuts, Kangana said, “We did not make the film to mock someone. However, the censor board removed some episodes of history. But the fact is that it does not impact my film. The story is very much intact. The message of the film is very much intact, which is patriotism. So I don’t think it has affected the larger narrative. But if they had shot it, there must have been a reason for it.”

After the release of the second trailer, everyone believes that Kangana has made the film, to benefit the BJP against the Congress party. When Indira Gandhi declared an Emergency, she faced much criticism nationwide. Kangana has depicted several real-life incidents in the film. She played Indira Gandhi on the screen apart from helming the project herself.

The film is scheduled for release on January 17th.
