During the promotions of Devara, NTR opened up that he was in talks with director Vetrimaaran, and even the director confirmed that they plan to work very soon. However, the latest announcement confirms that the project is not happening anytime soon. Vetrimaaran confirmed his next two films, and he is reuniting with Soori again.
Surprisingly, Vetrimaaran is also working with Dhanush for an exciting film but the disappointing news is that it is not Vada Chennai 2. The gangster drama Vada Chennai was released in 2018 and became the highest-grosser for Dhanush then. Later, in 2022, the director confirmed that the sequel is happening.
But, Dhanush moved on to other films, while Vetrimaaran also focused on the Vidudhala franchise. Now, the producers of the Vidudala franchise have announced two projects with Vetrimaaran. One of them will feature Dhanush, while the other one will feature Soori.
The team did not confirm if the project in the combination of Dhanush and Vetrimaaran is Vada Chennai 2. Moreover, Vada Chennai was made under the banners of Wunderbar Films, Lyca Productions, and Grass Root Film Company.
The duo had joined hands for a period gangster drama Vada Chennai in 2018, which earned a cult status and became the highest-grosser for the actor at that point.
