Last year, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the government would introduce “Gaddar Awards” every year to felicitate the individuals who excelled in arts and cinema. Reportedly, the first edition of the Gaddar Awards will be presented this Ugadi.
On Saturday, the members of the Gaddar Awards Committee, led by B. Narsing Rao, and Telugu Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju met Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to discuss the rules and guidelines, logo design and other aspects of the awards.
During the meeting, the committee proposed to present a Golden Momento to Best Feature Film with a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs. The Second Best Feature Film would get Silver Momento with a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakhs. The remaining awards will not have any cash prizes.
We hear that the awards will be presented in various categories in the fields of feature films (49 categories), children’s films (6 categories), Critics of Telugu films (02) and Books on Telugu Films (02).
It was heard that Dy CM ordered the committee members to organise the event at a large scale, on par with other national award ceremonies.
