Praveen Kandregula of Cinema Bandi fame is making a rustic drama Paradha with Anupama Parameswaran playing the lead role, alongside Darshana Rajendran and Sangitha in pivotal roles. The film’s teaser was dropped just a while ago.
The teaser centers around Anupama Parameswaran’s character, Subbu, who embarks on an adventurous journey with two other women. True to village traditions, Subbu always covers her face with a Paradha, a custom that reflects the deep-rooted beliefs and superstitions in her village. The teaser hints at the villagers’ intense commitment to these traditions, going to great lengths for the well-being of their community.
The story looks promising, blending fun, intensity, and emotional depth in an engaging manner. Praveen Kandregula’s writing and direction stand out for their authenticity and storytelling.
Anupama Parameswaran delivered a superb performance, capturing the essence of a typical village girl. Her portrayal of a character bound by tradition, with the exception of a brief moment, is compelling. Darshana Rajendran and Sangitha also make a notable impact in their supporting roles.
Cinematography by Mridul Sujit Sen is striking, with visuals that enhance the rural setting, while Gopi Sundar’s intense background score elevates the mood. The production, led by Vijay Donkada, Sreenivasulu PV, and Sridhar Makkuva under Ananda Media, showcases high production standards that are clearly evident in the teaser.
With its intriguing premise, Paradha is generating significant curiosity. The film is slated for release in both Telugu and Malayalam, with the makers soon to announce the official release date.
