When talking about an unwavering force in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar’s name is often the first to come up. With an unmatched track record for consistently churning out movies without being affected by criticism or the results, Akshay has earned his place as one of the busiest stars in the industry. His new movie, Sky Force, is set to be released tomorrow with great expectations.
The film has seen a big-budget production, strong promotional efforts, and the team has been touring various cities, urging audiences to watch the film in theaters. However, despite all these efforts, the buzz around the movie hasn’t been as strong as expected. Additionally, the film’s concept seems too similar to Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, released last year, which has led to a lukewarm response from the audience.
Recognizing that the usual publicity tactics weren’t working, the producers turned to a more drastic solution—discounts. Through special promotional codes, Sky Force tickets were offered at a discount, ranging from ₹250 to ₹400 on BookMyShow. This offer was limited to those buying tickets in PVR and INOX multiplexes.
As a result, the price per ticket dropped to a mere ₹50, which sparked interest among movie lovers, helping the film trend. However, this isn’t an ongoing discount. The offer is a limited-time deal, specifically created in celebration of Republic Day.
While this is a welcome move for audiences, it’s not the first time Bollywood has resorted to such discounts. In the past, many films have offered “Buy One, Get One” deals, but Sky Force has taken it a step further with massive discounts. The film, set against the backdrop of aviation and adventure, features Akshay Kumar in some daring action sequences.
Produced by Maddock Films, the same studio behind last year’s blockbuster Stree 2, Sky Force has high hopes riding on it. With no major competition until February 14, when Chaava is set to release, the producers are optimistic that the word-of-mouth will carry the film forward. However, if the film doesn’t live up to expectations, don’t be surprised if it’s out of the conversation just as quickly as it entered.
