The much-anticipated Sankranthi season has ended for the Telugu film industry and the results were lukewarm. While Sankranthiki Vasthunnam emerged as a blockbuster, Daaku Maharaaj ended up as a hit but has to cross the break-even mark in many areas. On the other side, Game Changer, which had high stakes on it, ended up as a disaster.
Now, the next big season is the Summer season but going by the present scenario, the 2025 summer looks bleak for Tollywood. Earlier, Prabhas’s The Raja Saab was slated for release in summer. But it is now postponed. The makers are yet to announce the new release date.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara was also supposed to hit the screens in the summer. But it is heard that the film might get postponed due to the delay in VFX works. Already, the movie faced huge backlash for its blow-par VFX work in the teaser. Also, we hear that the release date depends on the OTT deal, which is yet to be finalised.
Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu might also get pushed as it is yet to find buyers. There is a relatively low buzz to this film compared to Pawan’s other film OG.
As these three big films are yet to decide their arrival dates, the summer season looks dull for the Telugu film industry, at least for now.
