Actor Naga Chaitanya is known for his romantic roles and films. He tried doing mass roles in a few films but many of them haven’t worked as expected. Now, he transformed himself into a new avatar for his upcoming film Thandel, which is a mix of both romantic and mass roles.
Thandel’s lead character, Thandel Raju, is a fisherman who lives in Coastal Andhra. It is a rugged role which is rooted and authentic. Naga Chaitanya is known for his fair, urban and stylish looks. No one, including the makers of Thandel, thought that he would do such roles in his career. But Chay challenged and transformed himself to get into the skin of Thandel Raju.
The makers have released the transformation video of Naga Chaitanya today. In the video, we can see the director Chandoo Mondeti revealing that producer Bunny Vaas initially told Naga Chaitanya he couldn’t play this role as it was completely new to him and might not be suitable since he had very fair skin, while the character required a rugged look. However, Chay argued with Bunny Vaas and promised to do anything for this role.
The video proves that Chay lived up to his challenge and underwent a massive physical transformation for the character. Not only that but he also got trained in the Coastal Andhra dialect to be more authentic. His hard work can be seen in the video and hope it pays off when the film hits the screens on February 7.
