Suriya, Venky Atluri & Naga Vamsi’s Film Starts Rolling In May!

Among several superstars from Kollywood, most have made their direct Telugu debut. However, Suriya, despite having a strong fan base in both Telugu states, has yet to star in a straight Telugu film.

Although he appeared in a key role in Rakta Charitra 2, he never headlined a direct Telugu project. Finally, ending the long wait, Suriya seems to have signed his first straight Telugu film as the main lead.

There have been speculations about Suriya making his debut in Telugu cinema for quite some time. Now, director Venky Atluri, who delivered blockbusters to Dhanush with SIR and Dulquer Salmaan with Lucky Baskhar, reportedly convinced Suriya to a straight Telugu film.

Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainment will pool the resources for the movie and the shoot will begin in May. The technical crew which worked for Lucky Baskhar will reunite for this Suriya film. Also, Suriya will immediately jump on to the movie as soon as he wraps up his current film with RJ Balaji.

Geetha Arts is also the front-runner to do a film with Suriya, and the discussions are still going on. If there are no surprises, Suriya will do two Telugu films simultaneously but it is too early to arrive at a conclusion over the same.

Sithara Entertainments is aggressively producing movies these days and Venky Atluri is their safe bet. With Lucky Baskhar, Venky delivered a big success and the critics were also surprised with the way he handled the film. It gave a lot of confidence to the stars as well as producers to go ahead with him.

On the other hand, Suriya’s next release is Retro, in the direction of Karthik Subbaraj.
