Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has stopped working in the Hindi film industry and is focusing more on South Indian films. He has openly criticized the work culture of Bollywood and explained how many of his films fail to even get released in the Hindi circuit. Thus, he has started acting in South Indian movies and is enjoying a good following here.
Anurag Kashyap became immensely popular as the antagonist in the 2024 Tamil film Maharaja. Later, he played a key role in the Malayalam film Rifle Club. Now, he is set to make his debut in Telugu cinema with Adivi Sesh’s upcoming film Dacoit. By constantly playing antagonist roles in South Indian films, Anurag Kashyap became the primary villain choice for directors down the south.
The first-look poster of Anurag Kashyap from Dacoit was released today. Releasing the poster, Kashyap tweeted, “Fearless, witty, and brutally honest – Announcing my first Telugu/Hindi bilingual as ‘Inspector Swamy’ in Adivi Sesh’s #DACOIT.” It is still unclear whether he will be playing an important supporting role or the villain in this movie.
Anurag seems not to be acting in South films just for fun but has serious intentions regarding this decision. He is selective in his choices, and his films prove this. Now, by debuting in Telugu cinema, we may expect him to do more films in the coming days.
Also, recently Anurag Kashyap screened his film “Kennedy”, featuring Sunny Leone, at Rama Naidu Studios in Hyderabad. By making his entry into Tollywood, we have to see if Kashyap releases the movie in Telugu anytime soon or even makes a straight Telugu directorial in the coming days.
Coming back to Dacoit, this film is being directed by Shaniel Deo. Mrunal Thakur is playing the female lead in the movie.
