Mythri Movie Makers is aggressively going after the dubbing films after the success of Dragon. By releasing Pradeep Ranganathan’s The Return of the Dragon in Telugu as Dragon, they touched the breakeven mark already. Now, they are eyeing on profits with a new Malayalam film titled Officer On Duty. Starring Kunchacko Boban in the lead role, the film is billed to be an interesting police procedural thriller.
Last year, Mythri released Tovino Thomas’ ARM which got some traction in Telugu. With the new found josh after Dragon, they are coming up with Officer on Duty, on March 7th. The makers released the theatrical trailer today.
The film has an interesting premise where demoted police inspector Hari Shankar, played by Boban, investigates a counterfeit jewelry racket, becoming entangled in a dangerous web of crime that puts his life at stake. However, the film was released in Malayalam on 20th February and opened to mixed reviews. It has not been declared a hit in Malayalam.
Moreover, Kunchacko Boban is not a big hero for the Telugu audiences. Although we have seen him in hits like 2018, Virus, Midnight Murders and some other films which were dubbed to Telugu, he has no big success when his movies were dubbed to Telugu and landed in theatres.
But, the trend of Malayalam movies is going on and the reception from the audiences is always welcoming, we can expect the film to impress the audiences.
