Kalpana’s Daughter: ‘Drug Overdose, Not Suicide Attempt’

Popular singer Kalpana reportedly attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. The news came out last night and disturbed the music fraternity. According to reports, the incident stemmed from a dispute with her daughter. Kalpana had asked her elder daughter, who resides in Kerala, to come to Hyderabad, but the daughter declined, stating she would stay in Kerala. However, her daughter, who is in Hyderabad, cleared that it was not a suicide attempt but a drug overdose.

“My mother is facing no issue. She is perfectly fine and healthy. She is doing LLB and PhD. She has insomnia. She consumed the sleeping pills and it was a slight overdose. It is not a suicide attempt. We are all happy. I request everyone not to manipulate everything. This is not a suicide attempt but just a slight overdose,” revealed Kalpana’s daughter.

According to the police reports, Kalpana is believed to have taken the pills around 3 PM on Tuesday. When her husband, Prasad, called from Chennai at 4:30 PM and received no response, he contacted the villa secretary, who attempted to check on her.

When Kalpana did not answer the door, the police were alerted. Upon breaking in, they found her unconscious in the bedroom and rushed her to the hospital. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
