Jahnvi Hit, Kushi Flop; Sara Hit, Ibrahim Flop

In our country, fathers put a lot of effort into launching their star heirs. They carefully plan their debuts, considering fan expectations and market conditions. This strategy is evident across all the film industries. However, an interesting observation in Bollywood brings back the debate of nepotism, throwing light on its other side.

For instance, Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan instantly met with success when her debut film was released. But, his son Ibrahim Ali Khan is struggling to find success. Similarly, Boney Kapoor-Sridevi’s elder daughter Jahnvi Kapoor is a rising star while their younger daughter Kushi Kapoor has not scored a hit despite acting in three projects already.

Recently, Ibrahim Ali Khan made his acting debut with Nadaniyan. This romantic entertainer, which premiered directly on Netflix, has been met with heavy criticism. Starring alongside him is Khushi Kapoor, but the film has failed to impress. The story revolves around a rich girl who rents a boyfriend for ₹10,000, and the events that unfold afterward form the plot. Director Shaana Gautam attempted to blend parental issues, middle-class emotions, modern mindsets, and new-age romance, but struggled to maintain a proper balance, leading to a weak final product.

Ibrahim has decent looks, but his acting skills are nowhere near his father’s level. If he manages to improve, he might have a future in the industry. As for Khushi Kapoor, the less said, the better. Without working on her screen presence and acting, she won’t even come close to her sister’s popularity.

The sympathy factor might have worked for Jahnvi Kapoor since her debut was released after Sridevi’s demise. But then, she carefully did films that bring her glamour icon image. Kushi Kapoor is trying her best but is unable to make any impression. Even with Ibrahim, things are not working out at all. He needs a strong introspection.
