Actress Smuggled Gold For The First Time By Watching YouTube

Kannada actress Ranya Rao, who was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials at the Bengaluru airport for allegedly smuggling 14.2 kg of gold worth 12.56 crores, revealed several shocking details during her interrogation. She told the DRI officials that she had never smuggled before and that she learned to hide gold by watching YouTube videos.

Ranya told the DRI officials that she had been receiving calls from unknown foreign numbers for the past two weeks and that on March 1st, she was asked by an African-American caller to meet someone at Dubai airport. “I was instructed to go to Gate A at Terminal 3 of Dubai Airport. I was told to meet someone and collect the gold and deliver it in Bengaluru. I never purchased gold in Dubai before,” Ranya said.

Explaining her modus operandi, Ranya revealed that she purchased crepe bandages and scissors at the airport and attached the gold bars to her body in the airport restroom. “I was given two plastic bags full of gold bars by a person after the security check. I hid the gold in my jeans and shoes. I learned this by watching YouTube videos,” she told the DRI sleuths.

Describing the identity of the person who handed over the gold, Ranya said that she has never met or seen him and that he was fair-skinned and around 6 feet tall. He told me to go to the service road after the airport toll gate and put the gold in an autorickshaw near the signal.

Ranya Rao, the stepdaughter of Karnataka DGP K. Ramachandra Rao, further revealed that she frequently visited Dubai for modeling and real estate business and that she also visited Europe, America, Africa, and the Middle East multiple times. Meanwhile, the DRI informed that Ranya Rao didn’t give any details about the smuggling syndicate. However, the DRI officials tracked the details of the syndicate members based on data from Ranya’s phone and laptop.
