There has been some controversy over dance movements in recent Telugu songs, especially steps choreographed by star choreographer Shekhar Master. Last year, there were objections to certain steps in the “Sithar” song from Mister Bachchan and the “Feelings” song from Pushpa-2. This year, the controversy continued with the song “Dabidi Dabidi” from the Sankranti release Daaku Maharaj. The latest controversy surrounds the hook step in the song “Adida Surprisu” from Robinhood, performed by Ketika Sharma. The Women’s Commission has responded, warning that vulgar steps involving women will not be tolerated and that action will be taken.
In response to the controversy, it seems that the team has made some corrections to the steps. Today, viewers in theaters were in for a surprise when they watched the song “Adida Surprisu.” The controversial hook step was nowhere to be seen. However, the entire frame wasn’t removed or replaced with a new step. Instead, the team cleverly managed it by editing the frame to show a close-up of Ketika, so the controversial part of the step near her waistline was not visible.
While the step itself was absent, it’s likely that the young audience who had been excited to see it might feel a bit disappointed. On the other hand, some people are applauding the Robinhood team for taking this decision. With this move, it’s expected that dance masters will now think twice before choreographing such steps in the future.
