Warner’s Debut Misfired Beyond Expectations

Nithiin and Sreeleela played the lead roles in the recent film Robinhood, directed by Venky Kudumula. The film opened to mixed response from the audiences. One of the highlights leading up to the film’s release was Australian cricketer David Warner’s debut in Tollywood. But after the film’s release, Warner is facing criticism for taking up a role that hardly had anything.

Despite the director hinting that Warner’s role would elevate the movie, it turned out to be quite brief—just around 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Warner played the role of a drug dealer, and his character did not have much significance to the story.

Considering the hype and Warner’s active participation in promotions, fans were expecting him to have a more substantial presence, perhaps even a special song or a longer sequence. Some fans expressed that if Warner had been given at least a ten-minute screen time with a catchy song, it could have left a stronger impact.

Despite the disappointment, Warner has shown enthusiasm for acting and has expressed his desire to take up more roles in Tollywood in the future. While his debut didn’t quite meet expectations, his interest in doing more films might open up new opportunities to make a better mark next time.

In fact, Warner was approached for many movies in the past but he signed up for Robinhood. Many are wondering what could be the USP that Warner spotted in the movie. It’s time the filmmakers also give him roles that match his craze rather than roping him in for something that does not match his range.
