Amidst the controversy regarding the content of Empuraan, a new controversy has taken to the spotlight. Following the controversies surrounding the film Empuraan, actor Prithviraj has received a notice from the Income Tax Department.
The notice seeks details of remuneration linked to his roles in Kaduva, Janaganamana, and Gold. Although Prithviraj did not take any acting fee for these films, the department’s inquiry stems from the discovery that he earned approximately ₹40 crore as a co-producer.
This development relates to a 2022 inspection at Prithviraj’s office, during which officials sought clarity on his acting income and tax filings. The latest notice is reportedly a follow-up to that inquiry, and the department states it as a standard procedure.
Simultaneously, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) intensified its probe related to Empuran by raiding the properties of Gokulam Gopalan, the head of Gokulam Movies, the film’s distributor.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recovered Rs 1.5 crore following a multi-state search conducted on April 4 in Tamil Nadu and Kerela in a FEMA case involving Gokulam Gopalan and his company Sree Gopalan Chit and Finance Co Ltd.
