Pooja Hegde distanced herself from Telugu cinema for quite some time, and it just happened organically. After leaving Guntur Kaaram, she did not sign any films in Telugu. However, for the last two days, she has been actively involved in promoting Retro in Telugu. Although Suriya headlines the project, Pooja single-handedly brought the much-needed push to the film.
Suriya’s starrer Retro is hitting the screens on May 1st. Karthik Subbaraj is the film’s director, and the makers have yet to release the trailer. Interestingly, Pooja Hegde is actively promoting the movie by participating in Telugu interviews. It is quite a surprising move.
Although Suriya has a good market in Telugu, and with Sithara Entertainments releasing the movie, the buzz for Retro is surprisingly low. However, Pooja’s two-day effort has brought Retro into the limelight. Pooja shared many interesting things about the movie and opened up about her love for Telugu audiences. She also confirmed her next film in Telugu as a love story.
Retro is a gangster drama that also has a beautiful love story. Karthik Subbaraj claims that the film will be different from his usual movies. The film has a decent buzz in Tamil, but with the latest promotional activity, the buzz is growing in Telugu, too. By the time the trailer releases, we may expect more promotional activity.
On the whole, the first step towards promoting Retro has been successful.
