Samantha was last seen in the 2023 film Kushi and the web series Citadel: Honey Bunny. Samantha pinned big hopes on the web series’ success, but it failed to impress the audience. Despite the show having Raj and DK as the creators, it failed to create a long-lasting impact like that of The Family Man. Interestingly, the makers wanted to renew the show for the next season, but the latest rumors confirm that it has been cancelled.
Samantha had invested significant effort in the project, performing high-octane stunts, traveling extensively for shoots and promotions. Varun Dhawan was said to be dissatisfied with the reception too. Hence, the Prime Video authorities are showing no interest in renewing it.
At the same time, the general trend is that audiences are losing interest in web series format. They now show less patience for long-form content, and even strong productions are struggling to sustain attention.
Citadel suffered from slow pacing and a lack of emotionally gripping storytelling, which hindered its appeal. Amid all this, Samantha is reportedly reading new scripts and is expected to make a strong comeback in Tollywood soon.
