“Shiva Nama Smarana”: A Current Trend In TFI

Currently, mythological and socio-fantasy films are becoming a trend in Indian cinema. Coming to the Telugu film industry, many recent movies are centred around Lord Shiva. Films like Odela 2 and Shivam Bhaje had Lord Shiva as a key story element. Here is a look at such upcoming films which revolve around Lord Shiva:

1. Kannappa:

Featuring Manchu Vishnu in the lead role, Kannappa is a biographical drama based on the tale of Lord Shiva’s devotee Bhakta Kannappa. This film features Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Mohan Babu, Madhoo and Preity Mukundan in other key roles. It is set for a grand release on June 27.

2. Akhanda 2:

After the blockbuster success of Akhanda, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu joined hands once again for its sequel, Akhanda 2. In this movie, Balayya will reprise the role of Aghora, who is a devotee of Lord Shiva. We hear that there will be a lot of mythological elements related to Lord Shiva in this movie.

3. Jatadhara:

Starring Sudheer Babu in the lead role, this supernatural mystery thriller hit the floors recently. We hear that the story of this movie will also feature elements related to Lord Shiva.

Apart from these, we hear that Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’s “Haindhava” and Aravind Krishna’s “A Masterpiece” will also have Lord Shiva as a story element.
