Yellamma – 3 big responsibilities on Venu

Comedian turned Director Venu, who proved his talent with the surprise hit Balagam, is now working on his second film Yellamma — and this time, the stakes are much higher. After taking his time to plan the next project, Venu convinced producer Dil Raju to back him once again, aiming for a powerful story with a star hero.

Originally, the film was planned with Nani, who liked the story. However, after doing intense dramas like HIT 3 and Paradise, Nani felt another emotional film might not connect with family audiences, so he backed out. That’s when Venu approached Nithiin, who quickly came on board.

The story of Yellamma is said to revolve around a group of folk singers from a backward community. Their dreams, struggles, and the insults they face from society are portrayed emotionally. The presence of the Grama Devatha Yellamma plays a major role in the narrative. Sources say the climax and other key parts are deeply emotional and rooted in rural traditions.

Initially, Sai Pallavi was considered for the heroine role, but recently Keerthy Suresh also received the narration. The makers are expected to announce the lead actress soon.

Venu has three major responsibilities this time:

• Deliver a hit for producer Dil Raju, who is investing big money based on Venu’s potential.
• Give Nithiin a much-needed blockbuster, especially after a series of flops.
• Prove himself again with a bigger cast and canvas, beyond the small-scale charm of Balagam.

Venu has reportedly spent two years perfecting this script. Once Nithiin’s upcoming film Thammudu is released, the team will begin work on Ellamma in full swing.
