The Effort Behind JVAS Re-Release

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is one of the iconic films in the history of Telugu Cinema. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, this socio-fantasy epic features Megastar Chiranjeevi and Sridevi in lead roles. Ashwini Dutt bankrolled the film under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. Marking the 35th release anniversary, this film is all set for its re-release on May 9 in 4k 2D and 3D formats.

Remastering this film was a herculean task for the makers as the original negative of it was completely damaged and decomposed. In 2018, the team started searching for another negative which could be used for remastering and finally found it in 2021 in Vijayawada. However, even that negative film was cut, damaged and was in a very bad condition.

However, that didn’t stop the Vyjayanthi Movies team from working on restoring the film. By collaborating with Prasad Corporation, the team worked on restoring the film frame by frame. After months of hard work, each frame was remastered to 8k and was converted into a 4k output. Also, Vyjayanthi teamed up with Prime Focus to convert the film into 3D version.

With all those efforts, the makers are bringing back the film in theatres on May 9. Hopefully, audiences will turn up in huge numbers and receive the film with same love and warmth that they did 35 years ago.
