Megastar Chiranjeevi’s iconic socio-fantasy drama Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is gearing up for its re-release on May 9, marking its 35th release anniversary. Long ago, the film’s producer, Ashwini Dutt, expressed his desire to make a sequel to this classic with Ram Charan in the lead role. However, things didn’t materialise for some reason.
Now, Megastar Chiranjeevi also expressed his desire to make a sequel with Ram Charan as the lead hero and Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor as the heroine. He added that the original version’s director, K. Raghavendra Rao, should be the direction supervisor for the project, with Nag Ashwin sitting in the director’s chair. He wished that Ashwini Dutt’s daughters, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, would produce it under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner.
Coming up with a sequel to a timeless classic like JVAS is a big task. The story should be better than the original version to surpass its legacy. We have all the technical finesse to outdo the original version’s technicalities, but the story and screenplay should be better than the original version. Once they find such a story, Swapna and Priyanka might do the film without a second thought.
With Chiranjeevi expressing his desire, it has to be seen if Nag Ashwin or Raghavendra Rao come up with a perfect story for the JVAS sequel. If the project falls in place, it would be one of the most-awaited films in Telugu cinema.
