Talk Of The Town: Sandeep Vanga’s Gut Feeling

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a man of intensity. He is bold and explosive when it comes to making decisions. He proved it once again now by casting Tripti Dimri for his next film, Spirit, starring Prabhas. However, it is no secret that Tripti replaced Deepika Padukone in the movie. With this announcement, Sandeep Vanga made a statement that he chose craft over ‘star factor.’

The critics and moviegoers have already begun to analyze Sandeep Vanga’s decision. Cut to the past, many advocated that Sandeep must offer a full-length role to Tripti after the runaway success of the film, Animal. Some even passed suggestions that Sandeep must cast her opposite Prabhas. However, due to various factors, the team did not immediately consider Tripti and went ahead with Deepika Padukone.

We already knew the fact that Deepika Padukone was initially roped in to play the heroine in the movie, but then, she was dropped for her demands. Reportedly, she demanded a huge remuneration and also asked for reduced call-sheet hours. When Deepika was dropped, the fans expected that Sandeep would bring in Mrunal Thakur as the heroine, but Sandeep dropped a big bomb by casting Tripti Dimri.

Sandeep Reddy always ensures to bring in the heroines who can perform well. He prefers the craft over the image. After introducing Shalini Pandey with Arjun Reddy, he wanted to work with Parineeti Chopra, but he hired Kiara Advani for Kabir Singh. And then, he roped in Rashmika alongside Ranbir Kapoor. For Spirit, he has the full potential to explore the market fully and choose Deepika, but he went back to his gut feeling and brought in Tripti.

Interestingly, Tripti Dimri gained a lot of attention after the film Animal. However, she is a great performer, as she showcased in Qala and Bulbul. She possesses a great skill of acting and in a way, she found big success only with Animal. Since she played a glamour doll in Animal, we cannot rule out the fact that she will just be an eye candy in Spirit. Sandeep reportedly penned a pivotal role for her in the movie.

The time will decide if Sandeep’s choice pays off but he is fully confident. The confidence was exposed through his social media post where he wrote, “The female lead for my film is now official :-)”
