Meet The Global Tourism Ambassador Of Maldives

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit next month, the Maldives government has named actor Katrina Kaif as its global tourism ambassador. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation announced that they were delighted to have Kaif as the Global Brand Ambassador for the Maldives.

Maldives CEO and MD Ibrahim Shiuree said that Maldives is thrilled to have Katrina as the global brand ambassador.

It is worth noting that the announcement regarding Kaif’s appointment comes amidst the rough relations between India and Maldives. The relation between the two neighbouring nations hit a low in last year.

Kaif was appointed as the brand ambassador soon after the launch of Visit Maldives Summer Sale campaign, which is aimed at drawing more international travellers to the islands. The campaign is mainly focused on luring the travellers to explore the pristine beauty, exuberant marine life and the luxury offered by the hospitality sector in the country.

After news of her appointment went public, Kaif, in an official statement, acknowledged it and said that she was “honoured”. The popular Bollywood actress maintained that she is excited to represent the luxury and beauty that the island nation has to offer to the vistors.

Speaking about her new role as the brand ambassador of ‘Maldives — Sunny Side of Life’, Kaif said, “The Maldives represents the pinnacle of luxury and natural beauty — a place where elegance meets tranquillity. I’m honoured to be chosen as the face of the Sunny Side of Life. This collaboration is about bringing the finest travel experiences to global audiences, and I am excited to help people around the world discover the unique charm and world-class offerings of this extraordinary destination.”

Being born in British Hong Kong, Kaif built a successful career in modelling and acting in India.  She is one of most popular faces in the Indian filmdom. Katrina is also the ambassador for her own makeup line, called ‘Kay by Katrina’.
