Now that the teaser of Raaja Saab is out, it has calmed down critics who doubted director Maruthi’s potential and creativity. There was a time when fans on some social media had criticized director Maruti for experimenting Prabhas on the big screen. Everyone felt there could be a mismatch between Maruthi’s style of storytelling and Prabhas’ star image.
Because Maruthi is known for his medium budget family entertainers and mass comedy while Prabhas is a relatively a massive star with Baahubali and Saaho under his belt.
But post Baahubali’s success, Radhe Shyam and Aadipurush had received mixed response. So everyone wanted a box-office hit for Prabhas and not a experimental film from a director who is relatively new when it comes to handling stars on silver screen.
So fans felt Maruthi’s style might not suit Prabhas’ larger than life on-screen image especially after big scale pan India films.
Raaja Saab is romantic horror a genre that was already touched by director Maruthi before — Prema Katha Chitram as a writer. Many felt such genres might dent Prabhas brand image. But the teaser that was dropped by the makers have ticked all the boxes.
It is proved despite having massive box office success with pan world films, a film star like Prabhas can dabble with any kind of stories that entertain audiences.
But one can’t jump the guns as it quite early to decide the merits before the film’s release, but the kind of response that Raaja Saab’s teaser is getting from fans across social media is good.
