Despite no official announcement yet, it’s now almost certain that Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom is not sticking to its initial release date. The film will have a release in July and is vying for the July 25th date. However, with July already looking packed, the team may also have to consider August 1st as an option. But it is not a safe option for the team.
In July, we have Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu (most likely), Thammudu, and Ghaati. If any of these movies work well, they will have a decent and comfortable run at the box office. In the middle of this, Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom must pull some buzz and at the same time, must also sustain the craze surrounding the film.
However, the big problem is the massive releases lined up on August 14th. War 2 and Coolie are arriving for Independence day. With enormous star power and massive marketing muscle behind both, Kingdom is at serious risk of being overshadowed, regardless of how good the content is. The audience’s attention will likely be diverted, and retaining screens could become a major challenge beyond the first week.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom has had its share of complications. Reshoots delayed the schedule, and Anirudh Ravichander is reportedly requesting for additional time for re-recording. Despite the setbacks, the makers are banking on the film’s unique setting.
Directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, the film is produced by Sithara Entertainments.
