Kuberaa Gets Ticket Price Hike in Andhra Pradesh

In a notable move, the Andhra Pradesh government has officially approved a temporary ticket price hike for Sekhar Kammula’s upcoming social thriller drama Kuberaa. Dated June 19, 2025, the order allows theatres across the state to increase higher-class ticket rates by up to ₹75 + GST in both multiplexes and single screens. The hike will be valid for a limited period of 10 days, starting from the film’s release on June 20, 2025.

This decision follows a formal request from Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, endorsed by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and routed through the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography. The hike has been sanctioned under relaxed norms from earlier government orders, suggesting a more flexible approach following the recent political shift.

Interestingly, Kuberaa joins a growing list of films including Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, Thandel, Mad Square and HIT 3 that have received similar approvals in recent months. This reflects a policy shift, with the new administration appearing more open to supporting films of all scales, not just big-budget ventures.

For producers, this hike may offer a helpful push at the box office, especially during the critical opening weekend. However, the decision also carries a degree of uncertainty. Unlike commercial blockbusters such as RRR or Pushpa, Kuberaa is a grounded social thriller that leans heavily on narrative strength and audience feedback.

And that’s the big question: is a ticket hike the right move at this stage? With modest pre-release buzz and no major star-driven pull, the hike could backfire among price-sensitive viewers who may choose to wait for reviews or a digital release. Only the makers know the strategy behind this decision. For now, the film starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna is gearing up for its theatrical release in a few hours, and the audience verdict will reveal whether the risk pays off.
