Pirated IPTV users warned of Deportation Risks and criminal charges

A massive IPTV piracy rocket has been dismantled with the efforts of law enforcement agencies in both India and the United States, neutralizing a vast illicit streaming operation that was distributing high-value Indian and global content without proper licensing.

The piracy syndicate operated under brands like Boss IPTV, Guru IPTV, Tashan IPTV, Brampton IPTV, topindianiptv, Punjabi IPTV, Vois IPTV, and UltrastreamTV. These platforms were illegally broadcasting premium content from top players such as Star, Sony, Zee, Sun Network, Aha, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and international sports channels as well.

Sold at cheap prices, these illegal IPTV services reached customers through Android and Linux-based set-top boxes, mobile apps, and smart TVs. Their marketing was aggressive and widespread, utilizing websites, blogs, and social media pages. However, authorities revealed that these services were also collecting personal data, including credit card numbers, passwords, and user identities. This sensitive information is used by cybercrime networks linked to illegal activities like tax evasion and terror financing.

The pirates are also broadcasting international local US channels such as ABC, PBS, CBS, and NBC, and content from Amazon and Netflix. So, this case is not just about Indian content but goes much beyond, including international content. Therefore, there is further risk for all Indians who are using pirated services because the pirate is committing a bigger crime than just illegally broadcasting Indian and international content. So, just beware of using these services, as this falls under scrutiny and may lead to deportation.

Major OTT streaming services estimate that broadcasters in the South Asia suffer annual losses of $200–$300 million due to illegal IPTV streaming services. Earlier in 2021,YuppTV has initiated a complaint that led to the arrest of six people associated with Boss IPTV in Faridabad.

This legal battle against illegal IPTV services now gone global. A civil suit filed in the United States, represented by Goldstein Law Group, LLC, accusing the defendants of criminal copyright violations under U.S. statute 18 U.S.C. § 2319. The law firm warns that accessing or providing any pirated IPTV content could result serious violations in US, as such violations fall under the purview of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Beware of illegal streaming services, switch to legal platforms to avoid legal consequences.
