Debut Hero Beats Big Stars on Day 1

The latest Hindi release, Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, has been shattering records at the box office right from the first day. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, this romantic musical drama collected around Rs. 20 crore nett on its first day, beating the likes of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force and Sunny Deol’s Jaat. This is also the biggest opening for the film that features two newcomers in lead roles.

According to the B-Town reports, Saiyaara now is the fourth highest opening day grosser in Hindi cinema, standing behind Chhaava (Rs. 31 crore) and Sikandar (Rs. 26 crore) and Housefull 5 (Rs. 24 crore). The likes of Raid 2 (Rs 19.5 crore), Sky Force (Rs 12.25 crore), Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 10.7 crore), Jaat (Rs 9.5 crore) and Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 7.75 crore) are behind Saiyaara.

There was a huge pre-release buzz for Saiyaara, which surprised many. The major reason behind it was the sensational success of the musical album, which drew the younger generation of the audience to the theatres right from the first day. After this phenomenal first day performance, Saiyaara is expected to break many more records in its opening weekend.
